There has been an impression for some time that healthy food is tasteless, bland, even off-putting. We all know a salad is better for us than a hamburger, but because it has more flavor, we go for the burger, or so goes the idea, anyway. But there is no excuse that this has to be the case. Any food will become more exciting with the addition of a bit of spice.

People will always be keen to point out that even though a grilled chicken breast may contain less calories from a fried chicken outlet than a family bucket, it doesn't taste as nice. And the truth of the matter, though this is a matter of opinion, is that expectations matter.
However if you marinate the chicken breast with herbs and spices, the taste will dramatically change and be a lot more enjoyable. Although tuna is far from tasteless, you can get bored with eating tuna salad in your sandwiches. But when you make the tuna mix, if you add a little seasoning, you can find that there are a lot of different tastes that add very little if anything, to the calories. Paprika, pepper, cayenne... the list continues. The addition of some sliced jalapenos, if you have the appetite for them will make it even more interesting. And the bottles of sauce on the shelves of the supermarket go beyond steak sauce and ketchup these days. Additions such as piri-piri and teriyaki are a welcome break from the usual.
